Kia ora koutou
Our pōwhiri this morning to welcome our new staff, students and whānau to Freeville School was a great way to start the year. We were extremely proud of all our students and hope that our new teachers and new students enjoy their time at Freeville School. Our thanks to all the parents who came along to support our children this morning. Your presence was much appreciated.
Amid the excitement of starting the year the McLeish family are foremost in our thoughts and prayers. Lorraine McLeish has been a teacher aide for many years at Freeville School and countless students have benefitted from her skill, knowledge and patience. It was with considerable shock and sadness that we heard that Lorraine's son Scott passed away suddenly earlier this week. Our thoughts are with Lorraine, her husband Ian and their family as they go through a tremendously difficult time.
We are all aware that this year will have its ups and downs as we progress through the year towards the merger and at the same time deal with the other issues that life inevitably throws at us. Rest assured that we will always do our best for you and your children. I can guarantee that we won't always get it right - no one ever does. But we will do our best and we will listen. The most important thing is to address any issue with the person concerned as soon as possible. Nip it in the bud so small issues don't grow.
School Roll
Today we started back at Freeville with a roll of 227. This means that our children are getting a fantastic deal, with class numbers akin to what you would get a private school. It's just that we are a heck of a lot cheaper.
Have a great Waitangi Day.
